The Camp Hancock State Historic Site preserves a 19th-century military structure built to protect work gangs who had been recruited to build the Northern Pacific Railroad. A traditional log headquarters lies on the site, housing a museum stocked with artifacts and other information pertaining to local history. The Site resides in the heart of town, about 200 miles west of Fargo.
